A Short Biography - Ms. Areti Zhulla

Areti Zhulla

Ms. Areti Zhulla, a 21 year old violinist of Greek descent, began playing at age seven with her father, a teacher at the Modern Music School in Greece. At age thirteen, Areti Zhulla came to the United States to continue her violin instruction. As a violin protégé, she has performed many recitals in Thessaloniki, Athens, and the former Yugoslavia and also has appeared on numerous television and radio programs. Areti won the Tassos Prassopoulos Foundation Scholarship which allowed her to study at Canada's National Art Center, where she studied under the direction of Pinchas Zuckerman. Ms. Zhulla attended the Perlman Music program for five summers on scholarship and in 2002 began studying directly with Itzhak Perlman. During that time she was selected to join the Perlman Music Program trip to China and later appeared with the Program on "Live from Lincoln Center." When Itzhak Perlman was recipient of the Kennedy Award in 2003, Ms. Zhulla was invited to perform with other selected students of Mr. Perlman. She is currently a student of the Julliard College Division, where she continues to be a private student of the renowned Itzhak Perlman, as well as Cathy Cho.

Areti will be performing at the Menlo Park Chamber Music Festival. For more information please visit the Music@Menlo web site.
